Your typical three point sandal—the flip-flop—is not at all well designed for getting wet. This is rather surprising given how often people wear them around the beach, the pool and other water-full areas. It also points to one of the two reasons why we love the Reef XS1 sandal—it has a water drainage system. Moisture quickly wicks away from the foot area and out the bottom. The island of Bali is full of tropical forests and gorgeous beaches. It is also full of used tires clogging landfills. Fortunately, at least one company is finding a way to make good use of them: Indosole. The company employs local Balinese to cut off the tread of old tires and then to sew them onto sandals. (That’s not a typo; the company is name is spelled t-h-e with a period after it). Putting hugely oversized pens inside the t-shirt’s large pocket isn’t a suggested look, especially in combination with a hugely oversized pocket protector. On its own, however, the t-shirt creates a look we find vondrous. $30
