For charging multiple portable electronic devises with one unit, the iHome iB9678 is most vondrous. It’s useful too, because, really, these days most people have multiple electronic devises.
At the top of the iHome charging station are two universal iPod/iPhone docks that can not only change your Apple devises but sync them as well. The base of the iB9678 is a padded area to rest an eBook reader while it is charging. The area is expandable, so it can accommodate various models of the Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook or Sony Digital Reader. There are also two USB ports to charge a BlackBerry or camera or whatever. $30 (with the Amazon.com discount)
The Starcruiser from Maximilian Büsser & Friends (MB&F) isn’t a wristwatch. It’s a “horological machine.” Horology being the study and measurement of time. And looking through the anti-reflective glass at the 304 separate components of this watch, one feel like one is studying time. Especially vondrous are the two raised cones, one indicating minutes and the other the oscillations between night and day. See the MB&F website of a list of local retailers.
Jeans—they aren’t just for outerwear anymore. Thanks to the Japanese and the Japan Trends Shop that sell some of their quirky inventions, you can now buy jeans as underwear. JeanPants give new meaning to the terms “short shorts.” The denim has an authentic, worn look but is stretchy enough to offer a snug fit. $63
The Woodinville Age Your Own Whiskey Kit is not a make your own whiskey kit. But your house guests needn’t be told of that distinction. To them—and perhaps to you too—the whiskey you’ll produce from this kit will seem like your creation.
The process is simple enough: Pour some of the un-aged whiskey into the wood barrel, which accelerates the aging process. Then wait three to six months (preferably six). Then pour and enjoy. The whiskey which started the process clear will end it a golden brown.
The $150 kit comes with two 750 ml bottles, a pouring funnel, two tasting glasses and the wood barrel that can be reused five times.
Most bicycle baskets look powerfully uncool. One vondrous exception: the Bent Basket.
The simple yet ingenious design uses a strong piece of wood topped by nylon straps. The straps are plentiful enough to keep books, folders or other thin objects from sliding out. They are also flexible enough to hold a variety of items in place, including loose vegetables (photo to right) or 6-pack of beer (photo below). Another bonus: the Bent Basket can fit either on the front or back of a bike.
Can one iPhone have multiple phone numbers? It can with the 3-in-1 SIM Card Case for the iPhone 4 with Back Case.
The primary SIM card remains in its unusual slot inside the iPhone. One or two other SIM cards go inside slots within the case itself. When your phone rings your screen displays which of the SIM card phone numbers your call is coming into. Each number can also be individually managed with its own ring tones and call forwarding options. Very vondrous!
